A Brief Sunday Statement
There are more trees in all of North America, than prior to the story of Columbus’ reported discovery of the continent in the year 1492. This is all because now forest fires or wildfires are extinguished and, unlike in a time prior to Columbus, wildfires would continue until the arrival of winter. Cut forests are also replanted with ‘private’ companies doing the vast share of this work.
Firefighters in the flaming forests are every bit the heroic conquerors who we must thank and show our appreciation to.
These firefighters have it more problematic these days because excess fuels are constantly being created due anti-logging legislation, a deficiency of prescribed burns, elimination of fire breaks and berms, and no forest floor clearing and cleaning.”
Oregon had a nasty 2024 for seasonal fires. They have another problem in the forestry sector – DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). On August 6th, at the height of the fire season, Mike Shaw, who was the second in command at Oregon’s Department of Forestry was placed on leave because he chose to look, “beyond gender and identity in hiring, seeking only candidates most qualified for the job.”
Megan Donecker, who at the time was the Oregon Department of Forestry’s DEI strategy officer, reported the progressively ideological sins of Shaw who was endeavoring to seek employees based upon appropriate qualifications, experience, and rigorous merit.
It’s so difficult to believe that integral positions requiring skill, competence, and strength should instead be based on skin tone, sexual orientation, gender, people with disabilities, and other immaterial and irrelevant characteristics.
So while climate change is being blamed for an increase in wildfires, which we know is not true, absurd progressive social policies increase the likelihood of complete disaster in all jobs.
The New York Post covers the story here – the legacy media, as expected, ignores the account.
