Switzerland, or more appropriately the Swiss Federation has long held a position of neutrality and avoids affiliating or aligning itself with any military, political, or direct economic activity or movement. Maintaining absolute autonomy and the absence of any alliances, Switzerland, despite being surrounded, is not a member of the European Union. Even the knife which adopts the country’s name is not a Swiss product at all but merely a mispronunciation of a German designation for a similar multi-tool knife.
Switzerland has a flourishing and prosperous high-tech economy. It usually sits at the top of the world's wealthiest country per capita. While banking and finance are a staple of the Swiss economy, The Wall Street International Magazine considers Swiss banking along with United States banking as the most corrupt financial institutions.
Just as an interesting aside, after mismanagement in investments, much of it in volatile green technology, overreliance on uninsured deposits as well as faulty, self-serving internal transgressions in operating a financial institution, both the Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and Signature Bank (SB) were propped up by the current federal government. A substantial share of the blame goes to the government for these infractions since the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) failed to perform adequate audits and reviews of these institutions. These banks are in areas that generally serve many of the most wealthy people in the nation. Yet, government climate policies from the same administration constantly hurt the poorest among us the most.
Back to Switzerland - showing this autonomy and independence and beginning to display much of the European population’s alienation with the leftist green agenda, the Swiss National Bank at their recent annual general meeting in Bern, spurned a request to alter its investments away from fossil fuel and energy companies such as Shell, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Duke Energy and TotalEnergies.
A 99.2% rejection by its shareholders for alternative investment strategies, despite activists speaking at the meeting and protesting outside, illustrates the climate change estrangement beginning to materialize in Europe. This follows along with strong anti-climate change protests in England, France, Italy, Germany, and The Netherlands.
The current temperature pause, if not a slight decline, is now 9 years in length. And, of course, storms and their intensities will not be increasing and the same changeless number will be recorded for droughts, floods, and wildfires. As nothing in the world of nature changes relative to alarmist weather predictions one would think herd mentality will eventually wane and bring sanity to the faulty climate crusade, however, eventually the eco-fanatical politicians will falsely claim that their mandates are actually working and the need to continue their efforts will be even more essential. This, they claim, needs to be continued into perpetuity.
Glad to hear that some sensible decision making is underway in Europe! God help the poorer people! Happy Canada Day!
