A Sleuth into Youth
After three years of remaining steady at 100 seconds, the Doomsday Clock has been set 30 seconds ahead in January of 2023. The number of seconds represents the time to midnight or essentially the likelihood of a hypothetical global catastrophe. With an initial setting of 7 minutes, the clock is set by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists and was initiated in 1947 by those who participated in the Manhattan Project, the result of which was the drop of atomic bombs during World War II on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan.
The clock is set based on the following:
war
energy
climate change
weaponry
politics
diplomatic efforts
bioterrorism
I suspect the people at the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists are not necessarily optimists and the youth buy in.
In mid-March, I wrote a piece called “Green Neuroticism” which entails the degree of depression of youth based on political ideology citing how much of this condition is based on the political belief of anthropogenic climate change.
In Canada, according to Village Media a Canadian network of local news websites with 60 partners, a survey of Canadian youth by Lakehead University said:
48% believe humanity is doomed.
78% claim climate change affects their overall mental health.
73% find the future frightening.
76% think people have been unsuccessful in caring for the planet
39 % hesitate to have children.
71% are angry at the government’s response to climate change
69% claim to feel abandoned.
In the article, these statistics are preceded by a “dire” climate change warning from the United Nations (UN) and their Secretary-General António Guterres stating, “Humanity is on thin ice — and that ice is melting fast. Our world needs climate action on all fronts — everything, everywhere, all at once.”
Therein lays the answer. The campaigner climate community including the UN, eco-politicians, advocate bureaucrats, activist scientists, Hollywood, legacy media, high-tech oligarchs, and youth “influencers” have all contributed to weaponizing the environment for political advantage. It is much simpler with the young since they have not necessarily experienced past weather events and everything is promoted as unprecedented.
Further, and I suspect like in the USA, teachers and professors are largely liberal or progressive and students continue to get one-sided indoctrination and instruction. Instructors are much more likely to get politically motivated science texts. Interestingly in the accompanying video, but not included in the article, Dr. Ellen Field of Lakehead University Orillia said, “So there was a recent research study that came out from people for education that also identified the increasing declining mental health of young people amid COVID-19 and also the reduction in supports in schools for mental health.
The commands and demands of COVID, which we continue to discover were almost all unwarranted, except for perhaps the elderly, were a significant detriment and drawback to the younger population. Some say the social isolation from other students and getting educated outside of the school environment may have induced damaging effects on many for the balance of their lives. Naturally, all of the COVID mandates were forced on society by policies of progressive politicians, so one can understand why the condition did not receive any mention in the main article.
The reality is that today’s more entitled youth, are simply swallowing the propaganda and not investigating reality. This is not the case for all, but certainly those included in the percentages contained in the Village Media article.
