A UN Poll or Troll
According to a poll conducted by the United Nations Development Programme and the University of Oxford, Department of Sociology, “Four in five people want more climate action”. The link is a related article from MSN, while the 179 pages of survey results entitled “The Peoples’ Climate Vote 2024” are linked here. The questions posed in the toll appear on pages 18 and 19. The most relevant question “Do you believe manmade climate change or global warming is a factual reality”, is not one of them.
The very peculiar thing about anthropogenic climate change science is that it is possibly the only science that was entered into in reverse of the orthodox protocol. Every science starts with a declared hypothesis which is then examined. Empirical falsification or once a single test that cannot replicate a theory or hypothesis immediately falsifies or disproves that theory or argument. Credible science says any hypothesis must be replicable, reproducible, repeatable, or at least observable.
All science is tentative and provisional, but in anthropogenic climate change science produced and generated by the accepting and accommodating scientific and political community was immediately made factual and it was up to doubters to disprove it. The science never got proven, but the “Appeal to Ignorance” just got louder. The late Dr. Karl Popper said, “a theory in the empirical can never be proven, but it can be falsified, meaning that it can (and should) be scrutinized with decisive experiments.”
In this case, the “appeal to ignorance” is when the term ignorance is viewed as having a deficiency of contrary or contradictory evidence. The news and weather is constantly saturated with dreadful weather being blamed on climate change. The apathy of the most listeners or viewers makes sure opposing evidence is not sought.
In this latest survey, if factual, the leftist media must be orgasmic in their marketing skills and promotional efforts to sell climate change as a true-life science. Apparently, getting telephonic survey opinions further proves climate change reality, except I noticed immediately that Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, Serbia, Ukraine and a host of others were not included in the poll – see the methodology section. Was the justification for this deficiency political, since many European countries in the last elections ousted Green Party members for candidates to the right, or was the more northern climes of these nations a contributing factor?
While the methodology states, “The survey was designed to include a range of people within and between countries, covering diverse demographic and geographic groups”, were the people in these overlook countries not quite adjectively diverse enough? Further, the methodology states, “the number of respondents for each region closely matched the distribution of the population”, which means the majority of calls went to larger cities and metropolitan areas that encompass the more progressive, climate change-faithful populations.
The crux or core of the survey is based on whether or not the respondent has witnessed or experienced climate change. There has been no marked increase in heat waves, hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, floods, or wildfires and the ocean’s rise has only fluctuated nominally since the end of the Little Ice Age (LIA) in the mid-1800s. So the true focal point of the poll was, “Have you encountered terrible weather that you have been told can be blamed on anthropogenic global warming”.
Further evidence of a climate change-indoctrinated public is shown below. The climate-related deaths tabulated worldwide by OFDA/CRED International Disaster Data, from 1920 onward, are publicized below - more unabashed propaganda.
It is quite obvious that this report was prepared by the 97% of scientists who agree with whoever is funding them – and their vast legion of programmed academic cohorts.
