An Einsteinism
The Russian Nordstream Pipeline, supplying liquefied natural gas (LNG) to European countries, has been reduced to 20% of capacity. The Europeans are obviously in panic mode. Putin continually blames the sanctions on Russia for an inability to maintain the pipeline, but of course, this is purely imitative coercion. What he is really saying is that Russia will not feed the mouth that bites it.
After years of intensive programs to construct and install wind turbines and solar panels, Germany’s energy needs do not come close to satisfying demand. Most European countries are in the same predicament. The first paragraph in a related Guardian Newspaper article states, “Cities in Germany are switching off spotlights on public monuments, turning off fountains, and imposing cold showers on municipal swimming pools and sports halls, as the country races to reduce its energy consumption in the face of a looming Russian gas crisis.”
As part of an emergency energy plan, Germany’s major response to the crisis appears to be the institution of a huge gas surcharge on consumers. Once again, the wealthy elitists can afford the additional outlay, while the poor and underprivileged will suffer.
Russia’s current reduction of LNG is a precursor to what may become widespread disaster and disorder should all gas be halted in the winter. Ironically, in this linked video, at the United Nations filmed in September of 2018, then US President Donald Trump warned the United Nations and Germany in particular that reliance on Russia for oil was a horrible blunder. As he spoke, the German delegation chuckled. He had conveyed the same message to Angela Merkel then the German Chancellor and she told him to mind his own business.
However, this is the current miserable situation in Europe, and despite the incredible failure and being forewarned, I doubt anyone is apologizing. These people never do. They constantly blame others and create euphemistic language to absolve them of any responsibility.
On this side of the ocean, with the ‘caving to party’ by West Virginia’s Democrat Senator Joe Manchin, the United States is headed in the exact same direction. With examples of failure from all over the globe, the progressives in the US think that things will somehow and perhaps miraculously turn out differently. While the attribution is contentious, most people credit Albert Einstein with the quote, “Insanity Is Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results.”
It is astonishing how a government will risk the lives and livelihoods of their own people on the continuation of a falsified political ideology.
