Between the Moon and New York City - for the Wealthy and Progressive Politician Only
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is made from various blends of plants, animals, waste, and some kerosene, however, SAF technology faces significant constraints due to severe feedstock limitations. The United Kingdom (UK) government and the European Union, through the “ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation,” demand that suppliers deliver Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs) to airlines, with a minimum of 2% within the current year and up to 70% by 2050.
The aviation industry’s contribution is 2-3% of global human-induced carbon dioxide, or a meaningless 0.24 to 0.54 parts per million annually. However, when governments are run by leftist, collectivist governments, the term meaningless constitutes relevancy and congruency in their utopian climate plans.
Thus, not having a supply of any material is immaterial.
While the linked story from London England’s Express newspaper, “Fresh blow to Ed Miliband's net zero dreams as 'great green scam' to cost £2bn a year”, does not have an escalation in per passenger pricing, it does state that it would add 2.2 billion Euros ($2.5 billion US) to the total current airline passenger ticket fees. There will be further acceleration as the need for the ‘unavailable’ sustainable aviation fuels increases. Again, progressives travelling on the taxpayer dime, including the use of private jets, could not be bothered. Ideology demands dominance over any additional costs cast upon the everyday individual.
Willie Walsh, CEO of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), condemns the European Union governance, ”for its persistent proposals to escalate measures that have proven entirely ineffective” and adds, albeit selfishly, this is “one of the EU’s greatest green scams”. Unselfishly, there have been many.
In all instances, whether it’s unworkable renewable energy or draconian regulation, conceptual progressive tenets not only create oppressive action on the individual, but subjugate people from living normal and free lives.
