Climate Change at the University of They
The incontrovertible experts at the “University of They” with campuses in absolutely every household, says that “laughter is the best medicine”. Prevention may be second. Taking that into consideration, and of course, with the prodding and prompting of my wife, I have, so far, suffered the agonizing pre-traumatic stress of two colonoscopies. The actual procedure, naturally, is painless, it’s the ‘exhausting’ preparation that is rather unpleasant. During my first colonoscopy, I awoke twice during the actual procedure. If it happens again, I will still not consider myself among the “woke” of society.
Well, this same pleasure of waking up unexpectedly or undesirably may be experienced by others, if some anesthesiologists practice their progressive politics. CO2 absorbents were introduced into anesthesia practice in 1924 and it has been suggested at the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ annual conference recently held in Orlando, Florida to reduce climate change, they begin to lower anesthetic gases during procedures.
Dr. Mohamed Fayed a senior anesthetist at Detroit’s Henry Ford Health made the suggestion at the conference stating, “Global warming is affecting our daily life more and more, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions has become crucial. No matter how small each effect is, it will add up. As anesthesiologists, we can contribute significantly to this cause by making little changes in our daily practice — such as lowering the flow of anesthetic gas — without affecting patient care.”
Along with a litany of other drugs and an over-exuberant supply of propofol while being unattended may have killed Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, but the next time I go under a scalpel or camera or any other tool of surgery, I would still like my share.
Fayed, employing a prevailing bandwagon argument is correct that “global warming is affecting our daily life more and more”, but that is because people are surrendering accepted and traditional rights, freedoms, and privileges and doing so without a fight or asking for unquestionable data, statistics, and information on which these liberties are being confiscated. Instead, all they get is the term ‘consensus’ and, in apathetic acceptance, they take a knee or bend over.
Medical doctors fill one of the most valued and precious occupations known to humanity, especially to those suffering from a variety of illnesses. Their care expands its reach to all of the loved ones of those sick and dying. Staying in his own lane, Dr. Fayed may wish to cede his association with the “University of They” whose many professors also like to deceivingly warn of climate change.
Of course, Dr. Fayed’s rather unusual or bizarre remarks may have been made knowing they would make the legacy media. Proof positive, he was at the comfort of a Florida conference in the middle of a cold Detroit winter and he deserves a full reimbursement to his expense account.
It should be noted that the link to the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ annual conference identified in the related New York Post article has been taken down – out of embarrassment and awkwardness I must assume.
