Fleece, Fluff, and Floss
During a dental visit when a patient has a cheek extractor, scalers, saliva ejectors, polishing tools, and mirrors stuck in their mouth it is next to impossible to talk. Such was the case when a friend’s young dental hygienist recently said, “What really scares me is climate change”. It is impossible to challenge an opinion when one can only grunt.
It’s even more complicated as, Paul Schwennesen who is completing a Ph.D. dissertation on environmental history, claims, “Climate alarmism is disproportionately a “youth movement.” Schwennesen, who is also a graduate teaching assistant in an Arizona university environmental ethics class, talks about student orthodoxy and asserts that they are all environmental activists. He claims that all of his students are convinced that the planet is on the absolute brink of catastrophe.
In the linked article, Schwennesen talks about handing out an environmental ethics assignment on contemporary environmental problems. The student would then offer a critique of the issue. Not a single student offered that the issue was not really a dilemma, problem, or obstacle or offered evidence to support their claim. Providing examples of the work, the students presented environmental accounts, evidence, and twisted data they would receive from the prejudicial presses, eco-politicians, and the Al Gores of the world.
Schwennesen reviews the solutions proposed by the world’s climate advocacy and deduces that none of them actually tackles the issue on a scientific basis. In his definitive conclusion, he states, “The quasi-religious template is unmistakable: centralized coercive action, directed by our superiors, demands draconian restrictions on personal liberty—only through this will we find salvation.”
In other words, in this summation, Schwennesen asserts that the major executives and tycoons promoting climate change as the world’s existential threat say the cure is socialist or communist action, all controlled and conducted by them while removing or narrowing the freedoms of the rest of the proletariat.
These are the obvious and evident aspirations of leftist politicians, the United Nations, the World Economic Forum, and all those that support them. Climate change is merely a conduit chasing authoritarian political ambitions. Many, but especially the “youth movement’ that Schwennesen talks of are noticeably blinded by all the fleece, fluff, and floss put before them.
