Getting Kerry'd Away
Despite his horrendous allegations during the April 1971 Vietnam congressional testimony without evidence or witnesses, to the Swift Boat controversy, to the three unjustifiable and undeserved Purple Hearts, Silver Star, and Bronze Star, to his poor attendance in the United States Senate, to his constant grandstanding, John Kerry embodies hubris, arrogance, and pretension. As Obama’s Secretary of State, after Hillary Clinton, Kerry was constantly under fire for one transgression or another, including the Iran Nuclear deal and leaking classified information in the Middle East.
Even when ex-communication for his abortion stance became a target of the Catholic Church, Kerry simply blamed his constituents rather than confess his political and personal sentiments. Kerry is now endeavoring to stay relevant as the United States Climate Envoy, jetting all over the world, clearly without direction from anyone but himself.
In the linked story, Kerry is adamant that CO2 removal through carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies is both dangerous and a cause for alarm. A related story claims scientists, “urge caution, and warn against putting faith in untested technology before we have even fully deployed the reliable low-carbon technologies, such as renewable energy, that we already have”.
It is difficult to believe that someone would distort renewable energies using the term ‘reliable’ – an intermittent energy source that necessitates the sun to shine, the wind to blow, and massive banks of batteries for backup is considered reliable. That seems about as reliable as Charlie Sheen during the last few episodes of “Two and a Half Men”.
The rejection of the deployment of CDR technology would, on its surface, seem to be the exact reverse of a climate proponent’s wishes. They claim CO2 is the driver of rising temperatures that will eventually be catastrophic, but then rebuff tools that may possibly remove that unwanted CO2? That certainly seems hypocritical – but the reason is as simple as it is deceitful and dishonest.
The correlations of CO2 to temperatures have not been proven and the connection is absolutely feeble at best. The elimination of a quantity of carbon dioxide would prove this, in the same manner as it did during the COVID pandemic when human emissions declined, but had no effect on temperatures.
On April 30th, a segment on the CBS news program “60 Minutes” covered CO2-capture plants in Iceland. What I found quite interesting was that one of the plant’s engineers did not want any funding from oil and gas companies to finance the program. His face contorted in disgust as he thought of this funding avenue, stating, “We don't see the need to work with the oil and gas sector. We don't need them for direct air capture. And quite frankly, we don't want there to be an oil and gas industry in 40, 50 years.”
In another part of the same segment Occidental Petroleum and its CEO Vicki Hollub discussed their own ongoing carbon capture program. CBS, an obvious political promoter of climate change intimated they did not trust CO2 capture by an oil company stating, “We were in Iceland and we were talking to some of the direct air capture companies. And to be blunt, they don't quite believe you.” Thinking back on all of the proponent climate change programs on “60 Minutes” over the years, I’m confident that was the CBS sentiment as well.
You can further imagine after decades of peddling renewable energies as the sole cure relative to emissions reductions and having to admit that perhaps there is another way, it’s not going to happen. Of course, all of this is absolute political nonsense. If the world was in serious, grave danger of climate collapse every technology imaginable would be on the table.
Furthermore, true reliability with no CO2 emissions arrives with nuclear power and is the ultimate compromise position for climate change dissenters. As well, nuclear energy is true, tried, and tested. Again, undeniable evidence of the climate change scam.
Furthermore, Kerry claims in a Reuters article that emissions from agriculture must be severely slashed to avoid worldwide catastrophe. This claim despite the record harvests under elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide. For personal relevance and amplifying self-importance Kerry constently fabricates his own statistics.
So Mr. Kerry, why the long face?
