When one, as a climate change believer, says the world is ultimately destined for ravage and ruin, do they really believe it? Most that say this, take absolutely none of the measures deemed to impede the theory. Most do not attempt to lower their ‘personal carbon footprint’ – many do not even know what that means or what sacrifices it actually entails.
For most that express they are followers in the cathedral of climatology, it is purely virtue signaling in primetime. There is no examination of the evidence, but purely a narcissistic outpouring of counterfeit care and the assumption that their friends share the same emotion.
Most of the climate faithful in the developed nations have “DiCaprioitis”, a condition where shouting pretentious compassion for the earth goes right alongside every carbon-emitting extravagance available within the limits of one’s budget. Despite negating the respected proverb of living by example, those claiming climate virtue also seem to assert moral superiority.
Can there be any sincerity here – of course not? These behavioral inconsistencies are mostly dependent on political affiliation. If you are a progressive, liberal, or lean-left, you have a greater tendency, despite actions, to say you accept the theory of anthropogenic climate change. Your material actions and efforts, however, do not match your self-affirmed convictions or political ideology.
There are those in the third world, developing countries devoid of electrification because of environmental influences and appeals from wealthier countries. Without wells, they continue to carry sullied waters from dirty rivers, while thousands of them, mostly children die from malaria and dengue fever. All because it is alleged that climate change is a global problem.
Your politics are yours, and I am not one to urge personal political change, I only urge an alteration to truths – because there are consequences. Thousands of youth annually contract eco-anxiety, some so severe suicide becomes a reality. Hyperbole, exaggeration, extreme fear-mongering, and the quest for power by any means can be considered the advocate’s AK-47.
