In 2009 John Holdren, Obama Science Czar in the Obama Administration said, “Only one rational path is open to us – simultaneous de-development of the United States and other over-developed countries and semi-development of the under-developed countries, in order to approach a decent and ecologically sustainable standard of living for all in between.”
In other words, countries like the United States, Canada, and those in the European Union need to withdraw or retreat from development and advancement and enter retrogression, while poorer counties progress, and at some point, once equal, we can all be proportionately miserable together.
Should you wish to learn more about John Holdren and his boorish mind, you may wish to read my commentary of July 27, 2022, entitled, “Food Fight.”
The United Nations has championed Holdren’s cause for decades. They prod the politicians, especially progressive politicians, of wealthy countries to give trillions of taxpayer dollars in climate welfare to poorer counties. They claim the moral high ground citing that the wealthy counties caused climate change by burning fossil fuels while the more deprived and destitute counties, as a result, are suffering. The fact that climate change is not an empirical scientific concern matters not.
Each year at the COP (Conference of Parties), now in its 27th edition, the host, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), asks for greater contributions from the wealthier countries, while stipulating that these same countries need to suppress carbon dioxide emissions. The UNFCCC reallocates the monies – funds that often go to tyrannical regimes and depraved dictators
As anyone can see the redistribution of wealth coupled with a premeditated downturn in the economy is fully consistent with Holdren’s aspirations. As many countries including the United States, politically eliminate fossil fuels turning to inconsistent, ineffective, and high-cost renewable energy, the economies are faltering.
The advancement and push of climate change and the daunting effect it has on certain segments of society has always been a drain on the economy, but with the advent of Covid and the draconian policies pursued by progressive governments, the economy has suffered even more. Taking that into consideration, the eco-politicians and their allied bureaucrats have wanted to institute Covid style lockdowns on climate change to further shrink the economy.
Many people understand something is terribly amiss, but messages using deceptive and delusive moralizing can hoodwink many. While a survey in the United States showed that 75% of the people felt that the country was going in the wrong direction, the results of the recent election did not change much of the nation’s political structure or makeup. While it is difficult to grasp that some people want a worsening of the economy and a deterioration in lives and lifestyle, the elite perpetually exempts and immunes themselves from their own messes.
I am constantly hopeful that a beacon of perceptive light shines through and people begin to comprehend that the rise of some does not have to be at the fall or expense of others. This is merely a political ploy and a global scheme and not the way economics or social science works.
