Mendacious Mandates
The Chinese Communist Party has developed a societal structure of trustworthiness called the Social Credit System (SCS). It is mandated for both citizens and businesses. The scheme is essentially a moral ranking system and people are graded on civil and social conduct, criminal activity, bad debts, and any unethical behaviors – these behaviors are actions as determined by leaders. A failed ranking relative to the SCS can mean travel bans, suspension of the Internet, termination of public services, and other retributions and forfeitures.
The SCS is expected to be mandated nationwide in the very near future. An article on the scheme is linked.
In a somewhat analogous move, a bank in Australia coupled with a carbon dioxide tracking company called Cogo is recording CO2 emissions for each customer. Once calculated the bank offers the customer to pay a fee equivalent to the implicit amount of CO2 released.
The bank, undoubtedly using Cogo software, scans each customer’s monthly statement tracking things like energy bills as well as credit card receipts for gas purchases, flights, and train travel to arrive at the monthly carbon count. They provide a record of this account, along with comments showing a CO2 metric. This is to ensure the customer feels remorse and guilt for the commission of their CO2 sins.
Cogo, short “Connecting Good”, is a New Zealand company with more customers than just the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. They have created systems for businesses and individuals as well as banks. As the writer of the linked article entitled,” Australian Bank Begins Linking Customer Transactions to Carbon Footprint” cites “As we previously highlighted, allied with climate lockdowns, technocrats want to exploit hysteria over climate change to increase financial control over individuals.”
This type of fiscal jurisdiction was originally proposed in an article in Nature Magazine and at that time the authors said the scheme should be mandatory for all citizens. Furthermore, they suggest that with people easily knuckling to government mandates associated with the Covid, dictates with carbon would be easy to implement.
As the linked article insinuates, this is likely a prelude to a dictatorial government takeover of this strategy ensuring it becomes codified into national laws. In that manner, the author of the linked article writes, “While initially presented as a handy way for someone to track their consumption habits and the supposed impact they have on the environment, some fear that such schemes could one day become mandatory and place limits on purchases of customers who exceed their ‘carbon allowance.’”
As with all idiotic and irrational climate policies, this contrivance would hurt the poor while the political elite and wealthy will have no dilemmas in paying for their numerous “climate transgressions.” This manipulation would fit in well with the Davos aristocracy of the World Economic Forum and the United Nations.
