No See You Too to CO2
This first graph is from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). It illustrates the increase in carbon dioxide as measured at the Mauna Loa Atmospheric Observatory on the big island of Hawaii – keep this and the current levels in mind as you read this article as well the linked article from Australia Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) television network.
Now note that the linked ABC story states, “Between 2019 and 2020, global carbon dioxide emissions experienced the largest single year-on-year decline ever recorded — 6.3 per cent.”
Now from the NOAA graph, can you detect that colossal decrease? Of course not - the reason is that they are talking about human carbon dioxide emissions a mere pittance relative to the natural release of CO2.
Depend on who the researcher, scientist or engineer is, human generated emissions are anywhere from 3% to a maximum of 5% of total emissions. In other words at the current level of CO2 which is 420.99 parts per million (PPM) only 12.6 PPM up to 21.0 PPM is attributed to humans. So the 6.3 % the story refers to is .79 PPM or 1.32 PPM.
These more relevant carbon dioxide statistics certainly do not create the content overly-dramatized in the content of the ABC story.
As a result of this pittance, the research behind the article, performed by a group of ‘international’ scientists is advocating for lockdowns, including shutting down the economy. Co-author Pep Canadell of The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), an Australian Government agency says, "The economy is so intertwined with fossil fuels, that when the economy collapses, so do emissions.” Thus a full economic collapse or its full deterioration is acceptable to these insular people.
The study also counsels for the abatement of all transportation systems and, with household isolation such as were enforced during the Covid-19 pandemic, carbon dioxide would be reduced significantly. Of course reality illustrates that as simply imaginary science or more likely arguable science instigating rebellion.
The article states, “The significance of the study, according to climate scientist Nerilie Abram from the Australian National University, is that it demonstrates the world is capable of acting collectively to implement change on the scale that the climate emergency demands”; however, what should be a concern among fanatical climate change activists that never gets exposure or press, despite any action by the progressive governments, warranted or not, is that China and India will continue to bellow carbon dioxide at higher and high rates. As industry, manufacturing and other business is reduced around the world, China, for the most part, gets the additional work.
There is no such thing as “acting collectively”. China, Russia and North Korea will never be on board.
