Numbers that Count
Measured in parts per million (PPM), the chart below shows the average atmospheric carbon dioxide level for the three years 2019 through 2021. In 2022, the CO2 level concluded with 419 PPM.
This next chart illustrates the CO2 levels since 1960:
While CO2 is measured in several other locations, the level measured at the Mauna Loa Atmospheric Observatory on the big island of Hawaii is typically used as the established and cited level for studies and acknowledged values.
In the last three decades, massive solar and wind farms have been erected all over the world. Many individual homes and businesses have installed banks of solar panels. Google claims to run entirely on renewable energies (RE), which are purchased from 50 energy providers. They amorously declare that this power is purchased from suppliers in Chile, Singapore, and a number of states located in the American southeast. They also claim ownership of a wind farm in the Atlantic’s North Sea, off the coast north of Belgium.
On a much smaller scale, other REs include geothermal, biomass, hydrogen, tidal and hydro. Biomass is a rather deceptive renewable since it represents the burning of plants, mostly wood - not only does it eliminate CO2-capturing materials, but it typically emits more CO2 than coal.
The reduction or total elimination of oil, natural gas, and coal has occurred in many locations in numerous nations The majority of developed countries are striving towards REs taking the place of fossil fuels in their entirety. Many also have or are introducing carbon taxes which, in theory, results in the higher price of products that are made with elevated CO2 levels and thus priced much higher.
Governments throughout the world are incentivizing the purchase of electric vehicles and are constantly marketing electrical power and other conservation techniques for their citizenry. In any event, for over thirty years, all of this environmental effort has led to how much reduction in CO2 levels? Have a look at the graphs - None!
Have they flattened that curve? Not at all.
In 2020 and 2021, climate alarmists were saying that the world should continue coronavirus pandemic lockdowns for the good of Gaia and the subsequent reduction of CO2 emissions, yet we see no discernible blip during that time period either.
Naturally, the vast majority of carbon dioxide is emitted by nature, not humans, yet it is a very difficult question to answer despite all of the internet searches one may try. The direct answer is often concealed by unnecessary scientific gobbledegook – the real answer is between 3% and 5% or 15 PPM to 21 PPM. Thus all of the terror, panic, and alarm is based on, at most 21 units out of one million units of carbon dioxide.
As longtime golf announcer and analyst, Roger Maltbie says of the Tiger Woods putt to win Arnold Palmer’s 2009 Bay Hill Invitational, “Are you kidding Me?”
In the linked video, from a few years back, Senator Malcolm Roberts of Australia, representing the State of Queensland, illustrates, using grains of rice, just how much CO2 is in the atmosphere and how much of that is produced by humans. Further, the atmosphere or air that in epochs past carried up to 7,000 PPM of CO2, certainly cannot tell the difference between a molecule of CO2 generated by nature and one generated by humans.
