Salesmanship through Pseudo-Patriotism
Regina Jackson and Saira Rao are, as AI states, “co-founders of Race2Dinner, an organization that facilitates conversations between white women about racism and white supremacy.” They have a dinner at someone else’s home and at that homeowner’s expense and then charge $5,000. They were oblivious and unaware at the time, but they appeared in the movie “Am I a Racist”.
As well as their vitriolic promotion of racism directed toward specific groups, they were totally consumed by their hatred of the United States – I believe at one time in the movie, one of them exclaimed, “America is a piece of shit.”
Many studies, over the course of many years, show that conservatives are much more patriotic than liberals and to an even greater degree than liberal progressives. Similarly, in political ideology, Republicans are more patriotic than Democrats. I link one related survey called, “We’re Divided on Patriotism Too”.
I have always maintained that anthropogenic climate change is a political issue with no provable scientific merit. Liberals, progressives and thus Democrats endeavor to advance the issue with an ever-increasing prominence - now referred to as the climate change crisis. Conservatives and thus most Republicans are more uncertain or tentative, if not total contrarians to a make-believe consensus.
So how does the liberal faction get conservatives in their climate corner – construct climate change as a patriotic issue? The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), is here to help their lefty friends.
The PNAS sanctioned a study called, “Effects of system-sanctioned framing on climate awareness and environmental action in the United States and beyond”. An article in Science Daily sums up the study by saying, “Conservatives and liberals may be at odds in their views on environmental issues, but a new psychology study shows that framing the need to address climate change as patriotic and as necessary to preserve the American "way of life" can increase belief in climate change and support for pro-environmental policies among both groups.”
All three co-authors of the study were employed by the Department of Psychology, New York University, New York City. No climate scientists were involved.
Ironically, even though the study was a month old, it did not come out to the public until just before the presidential debate on ABC which aired on September 10, 2024. Kamala Harris was then able to frame climate change as a patriotic challenge.
As I have said on numerous occasions, climate change is a political science and not a physical science.
