The EPA Walks the Wok
In previous years, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) ranked the standings of Olympic medals by total; but recently modified that system to position standings by gold medals. In the 32nd Games of the Olympiad, Tokyo 2020, the United States came away with a total of 113 medals to 88 for second place China. The USA gained one more gold than China and subsequently won the medal race and was listed in first place.
The Chinese news media had a different perspective – serving the party as the communist media always does. They shamelessly appropriated all the medals of Taiwan and Hong Kong as their own which gave them four additional gold medals and a handful of lesser hardware.
China is unwavering, in every respect, in its claim of owning and retaining Taiwan as its own territory.
In this current day, after an adamant pre-journey warning to abandon the visit to Taiwan by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the Chinese Foreign Minister released the following official statement, "U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi insisted on visiting Taiwan in disregard of China's serious concerns and firm opposition, seriously interfering in China's internal affairs, seriously undermining China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, seriously trampling on the one-China principle, and seriously threatening the peace and stability across Taiwan Strait."
As a result, in one of their many actions, China has now discontinued all climate change agreements and accords with the United States and others. This measure translates to the oft-used word, “squat”, as in “it doesn’t mean squat”. The likelihood of China fulfilling any obligations under any carbon dioxide reduction treaty is fundamentally nil.
Nevertheless, the chance of this occurring pursuant to the trip was assuredly assumed. This illustrates the US government’s frivolous nature in its claims about the unmitigated dangers of CO2. China as the world’s largest contributor of carbon dioxide by far was provided with the opportunity to freely abscond.
With the USA and other western countries continuing with and even embellishing and advancing, unwarranted climate legislation and regulations, China will continue to grow even stronger, both economically and militarily.
Meanwhile, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is conducting helicopter flyovers of the Permian Basin region in New Mexico and Texas, the region with the nation’s largest oil supply to identify any emissions of methane. This measure will be used, undoubtedly, as a precursor to planning another regional shutdown or to exercise further enforcement or restrictive drilling and extraction actions.
