The Final Warning of Warming
The latest report from the United Nations (UN) Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC), its sixth assessment, released during the week of March 19, 2023, makes me again think of the Jay Leno quote,” According to a new UN report, the global warming outlook is much worse than originally predicted. Which is pretty bad when they originally predicted it would destroy the planet." There is much truth in humor.
In this latest report, IPCC scientists are delivering their ‘final warning’ on the climate crisis. I recall a 2021 IPCC report called, “Code Red for Humanity” which stated, “Climate change is widespread, rapid, and intensifying, and some trends are now irreversible” and then wrote, “well, no sense or need for any more studies, research, reports or spending taxpayer money – we are apparently all goners”. Yet, in this latest report, they claim, “damage to the climate will rapidly become irreversible. Magically, irreversibility is evidently reversible. The timing for these fear-mongered calamities in this latest report is sometime in the 2030s.
In a Guardian news article it states, “In sober language, the IPCC set out the devastation that has already been inflicted on swathes of the world. Extreme weather caused by climate breakdown has led to increased deaths from intensifying heatwaves in all regions, millions of lives and homes destroyed in droughts and floods, millions of people facing hunger, and “increasingly irreversible losses” in vital ecosystems.”
Yet every statistic proves these claims and other catastrophic weather events not unprecedented in decades and centuries of weather and the loss of life can be summed up in one graph as set below:
There is a constant hoopla and hubbub around the 1.5°C temperature increase. The value was plucked out of the air by the Paris Climate Accord because it was previously plucked out of the air by the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), who sought monetary awards for alleged climate reparations from wealthier countries. This money is collected by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). With the UN’s IPCC reporting, it makes for quite a nice monetized circle.
Furthermore, as I wrote in an article entitled, “Whether or not the weather”, considering all of the problems with weather stations and the collection of temperatures, we can in no manner rely on the accuracy of the temperature record sets being used by the IPCC. As meteorologist Anthony Watts said, “With a 96 percent warm-bias in U.S. temperature measurements, it is impossible to use any statistical methods to derive an accurate climate trend for the U.S.”
This is likely the same throughout the world. Furthermore, there are a number of records and data sets available, yet the activists always pick the ones indicating the greatest amount of warming, or what opposing climate change climatologists and climate scientists call, “the ones that run hot”.
Through the years I have continually inscribed the numerous failed predictions and prophecies of the IPCC and climate change activists associated with them. Truthfully, I cannot remember a single one that has come true. Yet we are supposed to believe this one. If there was any sense of realism and authentic scientific belief among the scientists and bureaucrats of the IPCC of a pending climate crisis and its existential threat, then we would be building nuclear energy plant after nuclear energy plant as fast as possible to avert climate devastation.
This report is simply providing more fodder for the violence, vigor, and vitriol among the climate naïve protest community. I’m sure in the next few weeks there will be more coming out on this report and I’ll pass it on.
