The Human Genius - Adaptation
Human adaptation and people’s ability to adjust, revise, reshape and habituate have kept the species alive and well for a very long time. The actual length of time is constantly debated by anthropologists, archeologists, and religious scholars – but, we can all agree it has been a very long time.
Each and every succeeding generation seems to have had life better and easier than the generation previous. The increasing progress and prosperity is largely, if not mainly, due to advances in machinery, technical improvements, better materials and progress in medical services.
Human adaptation and the ability for human intelligence and ingenuity to modify, adjust and invent has always, despite constant negativity from certain groups, been the hallmark of human inventiveness and resourcefulness.
Immeasurable advances, since the late 1800s, have been because of gas and oil.
It was the agent that made the industrial revolution possible. Not only because of crude or its refined materials, but also the thousands of other products that have oil as an essential ingredient.
Fossil fuels have been, without question, the greatest contributor to the overall progress of humanity, vastly improving life expectancy and people’s incomes and, of course, it was human initiative and inventiveness that harnessed this greatest of all assets.
Human ingenuity does not come from politicians, lawyers, and financiers rather it comes from the brilliant minds of inventors, engineers, architects, designers, and builders and the millions upon millions of experienced tradespeople that put it all together.
Proven over and over, in California and now all over Europe, as producers endeavor to reduce fossil fuel use and switch over to wind and solar, blackouts occur and they must re-light fossil-fueled energy plants that were scheduled for unwarranted moth-balling.
If one believes that climate is changing the world negatively, they should be encouraged and heartened by the human genius in solving problems as the issues become apparent. However, as prediction and prophecies fail, nothing as yet has become evident - the scary world of climate alarmism has not proven out. On a side note, some believe increased carbon dioxide plays a positive role in the greater greening of the earth.
Is not amazing that a segment of the population can assume that a concern about climate, an issue of physics, or a meteorological challenge, can be corrected by a change in politics and economies?
Instead if one believes in human-induced climate change through CO2 emissions, they should also believe in human-induced mending or climate adaptation through actual human aptitude and intelligence and not a fix through politics or a political scheme.
The thinking that someone’s politics and transformation of the economy can save a world from a catastrophic climate is absolutely silly. If climate change were even true it’s the spirit and guile of human imagination that is the answer – it’s always been that way. Always.
