The Nuclear Option
The war on fossil fuels was a prime contributor to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. One war was totally complicit in the initiation of another. Now as America provides military equipment, munitions, and money to Ukraine and weakens itself through the diminishment of fossil fuels, the ability to remain or to continue perceptively as a world superpower is very much compromised.
This truth is so obvious it receives the full neglect of socialist politicians, leftist news, and the absolute quiet of those who love them irrespective of deceitfulness, dishonesty, and corruption. It even receives thumbs up from many moderate Republicans where Ukrainian sovereignty, democracy, and liberties are elevated over that of their own country.
Pariah Putin has his nonsensical nuclear ‘nutters’ on high alert. Yet, it is nuclear energy that has been the preferred, alternative fuel for the science that recognizes and realizes climate change is not a factual or impending danger. Nuclear energy, which emits no carbon dioxide, is the exclusive option for sound science and scientists because:
it appeases and is a compromise for the climate change alarmists and their incessant claims of anthropogenic emissions;
it is safe, easy, trusted, and inexpensive;
it is the most efficient of all energies including fossil fuels;
as a result of these efficiencies it can produce electricity where twice the amount of coal and 4 times that of renewable energies are required to produce the same value;
it requires the least maintenance of any energy;
it is designed to operate for longer stretches before refueling (typically every 1.5 to 2 years).
it is not linked to market prices or set prices by organizations like that for oil and gas;
the stocks of uranium or thorium are enough to sustain the world for centuries;
the energy produced is constant and not intermittent like that of renewables;
there are no colossal requirements for land use;
unlike renewable energies it is safe for birds and wildlife;
there is no requirement for massive changes to energies infrastructure:
there is no requirement for massive amounts of battery storage;
there is no requirement for the massive amount of mining required for wind, solar panel, or battery production;
while fossil fuels remain plentiful, nuclear energy would allow for oils and gas to be used for only items outside of nuclear energy and thus conserve stocks; and,
the storage of radioactive waste is neither dangerous nor difficult unless, of course, one listens to climate alarmists.
Small modular reactors (SMR) can be transported by truck, installed at almost any location, and coupled together to provide sufficient power for any application from a single factory to a city.
The real-world rationale for using nuclear energy is basically beyond question, except for the politics of progressive power that push the irresponsible absurdity of human-generated climate change – a wholly political foolishness that has emboldened the world’s biggest fools.
While continuing to proceed with an atrocious green (red) new deal, the Whitehouse Office of Science and Technology Policy continues to host debates on countering both climate “Delayism” and “Denialism”. In the midst of an impending major world conflict, and one that they were absolutely complicit in, it would certainly seem these people are delusional.
The net “capacity factor” as shown in the illustration below is the ratio of actual electrical energy output over a given period. Here is that capacity factor for all fuels. As stated in the definition of capacity factor, ”the theoretical maximum energy output of a given installation is defined as that due to its continuous operation at full capacity over the relevant period”.
The issue is that nuclear energy would immediately end any climate change debate. A harsh reality the progressives just cannot imagine.
