The Real Existential Threat
Joanne Nova is an Australian freelance science presenter, writer, speaker, and former TV host. She is the author of “The Skeptic's Handbook”. She blogs on a website under the name Jo Nova.
In a recent article entitled “And the flavor of the month is ‘failure’”, Nova states Air New Zealand announced that the company, in no manner, would be able to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions by 29%, to meet their pledged 2030 commitment. Furthermore, 70% of Australian companies now have no intention of meeting their CO2 cuts as mandated by the Paris Climate Accord.
In the realm Net Zero, it appears that the Kiwis and Aussies are not any different than the rest of the business world, just more honest. The vast majority of the remainder of business and industry have already recognized their inevitable failure, but just not said anything. The fundamental problem is the world’s inability to create sufficient renewable energies and electrical storage facilities.
Everyone with any sense of reality knows that Net Zero is infeasible:
Economically;
Physically; and,
Mathematically.
The only splinter group that believes it is feasible are politicians. Those that rake in the progressive government’s and NGO’s green both derived from taxpayer funds are there for the green and not necessarily because they’re green. The unenlightened activists, protestors, and campaigners align with the politicians because, as I wrote in “Logic versus Emotion”, 90% of the average person’s decision-making is based on emotional thought.
What will win all the people over to reality, especially in first-world countries, is “expectation”. When turning on the lights, turning on the television, charging the phone, booting the gaming console, and plugging in other appliances there is an expectation of specific activity. It is worse when a home has electric heat and is situated in the colder climates of winter – yet governments in many parts of the world demand a changeover to electric heat pumps.
If one thinks of the societal advances enjoyed today, whether economic growth, technology, healthcare, food, or even environmental sustainability, it is obvious that humans have been spoiled. Progress has not stopped. For many, indulgences, extravagance, and modern amenities will continue to grow and these people will be hit the hardest. They expect anything and everything without interruption.
The interruptions will start with rolling blackouts and these, as time goes on, will increase in length, frequency, and intensity. The protests will be, not about “climate change”, but the consequence of the global warming deception. People will demand their conventional services, conveniences, and niceties back.
Will it be too late?
As people battle for the final few drops of gas to feed their drying generators, the world goes dark. Climate Change is an existential threat, but not in the way politicians say it is. Not at all.
