The Truth of Ian
Joe Biden visited Hurricane ravaged Florida on October 5, 2022. Despite saying to Governor Ron DeSantis “Thank you very much for the hospitality. This is about America coming together”, he went around the pledge and the ingratiating words from the governor and went immediately into climate change warrior mode.
Biden stated, ”. . . more fires have burned in the west in the southwest, burned everything right to the ground than the entire state of New Jersey, as much room as that takes up. The reservoirs out west are down to almost zero. We’re in a situation where the Colorado River looks more like a stream. There’s a lot going on, and I think the one thing this has finally ended is a discussion about whether or not this is climate change and we should do something about it,” Further Biden said that Hurricane Ian would likely be one the worst storms in the country’s history.
With extreme effort and exertion of DeSantis’ biting his tongue, courteousness and civility were preserved. Progressives must, without delay, endeavor to tally leftist scoring points in every conceivable political situation. They often forget the victims or reserve their words of sorrow for a later time - politics first and always.
However, Neil Frank, Ph.D., Meteorology, now retired, who was the longest-serving Director of the National Hurricane Center (1974 to 1987) sets the record straight. While many in the study and analysis of hurricanes have rated Ian as the fourth (4th) strongest hurricane to hit Florida, Frank says it is actually 10th, based on pressure measurements in the eye of the hurricane.
Frank talks about much stronger hurricanes from as far back as 1873 to 1948. As a matter of fact, the 1873 hurricane that hit very close to the point of entry of Ian, had a 14-foot storm surge – 6 feet higher than this latest storm. Further, climate activists ludicrously claim there are more storms now than in the past, before radar and other detection devices were ever invented. Obviously, a hurricane undetected cannot be counted.
As Frank concludes, “An analysis of major hurricane landfalls by decade shows a significant downward trend -- not the upward trend predicted and claimed by climate-change activists who insist that global warming will generate more and stronger hurricanes.” I link Neil Frank’s article here.
As these disasters of nature strike, many climate change opponents in the general population become anxious. This is under the assumption that we may be losing the climate battle. However, never be apprehensive or afraid, the truth eventually prevails. The only dilemma is that for a while at least, the truth goes to die in censorship, falsehoods, and a prejudicial political war machine - but at some point, it’ll rise again.
