We Need an Awakening
According to Michael Farris, founder of the Home School Legal Defense Association and Patrick Henry College in Virginia, a stone’s throw from Washington, DC, the modern term “woke” and its objectives started in the upper, elitist echelons of academia. Of the people that believe in ‘woke’ and accede to its decrees, behaviors, and activities, Farris states, “There is no truth, but what they meant was we are going to undermine the objective truth that you believe in and pretend all truth is relative and we are going to eventually follow that up with our truth and that idea is we are going to jam our truth down your throat and you’d better kneel”. He believes, “we are fast becoming a totalitarian, bureaucratically run country, not a democracy and not a republic.”
Then when an entire generation is taught under the doctrine and viewpoints of woke, the new version of Sinatra’s biggest hit will eventually become, “I did it, Woke Way.” If educational history is any clear indicator, our future rulers, leaders, and policymakers will all come out of upper academia. They will all be confirmed under the tenets of wokism and rule the nation through the unalterable and irreversible Ministry of Woke.
From this concept has sprung “woke capitalism”, which in its structure supports woke views and models even at the deterioration or degradation of revenue streams and profits. Woke capitalism has infiltrated some of the largest companies, including Target, Anheuser Busch, Disney, Carhartt, Amazon, Nike, and Kellogg’s.
Naturally, Hollywood was grabbed onto woke like a much-worshipped golden globe but somewhat surprisingly most professional sports organizations have become advocates as well. Huge investment management firms BlackRock and the Vanguard Group have gone woke using a rating called Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), an assessment of an organization's business practices on various sustainability and progressivist ethical issues.
All of these organizations have one thing in common – huge bank accounts and they do not appear to be concerned with boycotts, rejections, or rebuttals. Ironically there are fewer non-woke customers than the woke variety – unless of course, you asked a number of them, remember the Farris warning, “. . . we are going to jam our truth down your throat and you’d better kneel.” Thus to avoid cancel culture many surrender and kneel – certainly in the public, but not necessarily the private sphere.
Woke has certainly entered the anthropogenic climate change scene to make it a more colloquial and a inherently intrinsic cause. Wokesters believe that banding several woke issues together will do more for the cause than anything that can be engineered or what any government or politician can do. In this specific matter, in her book “Diversifying Power”, subtitled “Why we need Antiracists, Feminist Leadership on Climate and Energy” author Jennie Stephens says, “The inadequate and ineffective framing of climate change as a narrow, isolated, discrete problem to be “solved” by technical solutions is failing”.
Climate change has become that unquestionable phenomenon – it too is a theory that needs no scientific evidence or pragmatic science, but the lie of consensus simply asserts that everyone must now bow and then abdicate and kneel. Telegraph journalist and writer, Sherelle Jacobs says in her article ”The UN's 'woke' climate change propaganda is an insult to science”, “But so it goes that, in this messed-up world, the optimists have become skeptics; and those unradicalized by global warming delirium, the extremists”.
Climate change is happening under the Farris cited auspices, “we are fast becoming a totalitarian, bureaucratically run country, not a democracy and not a republic.”
