When Feelings Eclipse Facts
You have likely seen the axiom, “Your Feelings Don’t Eclipse My Facts”, Depending on the person, at least a person with some sense of acumen and perception, it’s obviously true. In the case of others, feelings are everything, irrespective of truth, verifiability, or recognized consequences. Feelings, emotions, and sentiments are paramount. Life needs to be lived on opinion, romanticism, and emotionalism. For many facts, statistics, evidence, and studied intellect are secondary to sensitivity, sentimentality, and compassion irrespective of the known or unknown repercussions.
This is exactly what Democrat Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez implied when she said, “There's a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right.” Even “morally right” can be significantly wrong if many others allege that value is immoral.
For many it doesn’t matter if climate change is untrue, that’s not the way they want or intend to feel. They see the world of fashionable self-righteous virtue that needs to be signaled upon others to illustrate their apparent or perhaps totally superficial care and compassion for the world. This is why climate change proponents always make their remedies to climate change all about saving lives, creating employment, and restoring compassionate goodness.
It’s not that anything physical needs to be done, as long as the good tenderheartedness is perceived by others. As an illustration, one doesn’t need to pick up trash on the highways, trails, and pathways, just thrash those that throw the trash. That latter is true virtue for the many and it needs to be made known and published by that same many - but, the trash on the highways, trails, and pathways remains.
However, the consequences of even a feign confidence in the theory and make-believe solutions to climate change are not, in any manner, a harmless matter. Here are just a few:
Untried cures are being done, attempted, or contemplated which will be detrimental to all of humanity. The consequences of these needless remedies are unknown, certainly inadequate, and potentially dangerous.
A deficiency of fossil fuels leaves the United States in an obviously weakened position relative to national security and in a vulnerable state with respect to hostile nations.
Reliance on unproven energies leaves the citizenry potentially defenseless to power outages, freezing weather, and other conceivably disastrous circumstances
People are made fearful of having children – complete stagnation in population will be a great detriment as people age and there is no one to take their place. The nuclear family is already in very serious trouble.
Children are psychologically abused and mindlessly molested through fear-mongering ads, incessant threats, and predictions of disaster, destruction, and early death. The fear extends to many adults and certainly, those psychologically challenged. It’s been dubbed eco-anxiety disorder and its reach is extensive.
Poor foreign nations and their impoverished, food-insecure people are neglected and void of energy. Hundreds of thousands of people die in their huts from particulate matter having to burn dung and twigs for cooking and heat.
Climate alarmists maintain that wind and solar do not kill as many birds and bats as cats, buildings, and electrical lines however, they also supply only a very minor amount of the current energy. If the eco-politicians and bureaucrats have their way, and fossil fuels are nullified the additional number of renewable energy sources from wind and solar and the augmentation to electrical poles will certainly become the number one biller of birds and bats.
While trillions upon trillions are spent on proposed solutions, most of which are not even related to climate, an immeasurable of people the world over live in absolute squalor, impecunious conditions, and starvation. Many die unnecessarily and needlessly.
So, if you want to infuse ‘feelings’ into the fray then perhaps one needs to feel about these.
