Wind Power from Windbags
Especially in the warm days of summer, Stanley, Idaho is a busy, bustling small town. Situated in the craggy shadows of the majestic Sawtooth Mountains, tourists flock to the town to hike, rent an all-terrain vehicle, maneuver a horse around a trail ride or float the Salmon River in pursuit of the big one.
Restaurants are hopping from the first light of early morning through to the late hours of the evening. Also hopping all over the restaurants are pesky houseflies – I am not, however, complaining. It is just something to be expected where there’s wilderness, water, waffles, and whiskey.
I managed to advance from childhood to adulthood in a place where houseflies, mosquitoes, black flies, deer flies, no-see-ums and horse flies had by far the most massive populations, so I’m not really perturbed. However, my wife finds the nuisance of house flies to be much more severe. Her hands relentlessly shoo away any bug at or near her food, but the targets just continue to bombard.
Recently, we sat in a Stanley, Idaho restaurant – over the years my wife’s aim has not improved.
In all this, and as much of a pest insects can be, they serve a life-cycle purpose. Many species of insects feed birds, fish, and mammals. The climate alarmists of today want to persuade the eradication of most traditional meats and have people eat insects - especially, crickets, cicadas, and cockroaches.
However, in their quest for the elimination of fossil fuels, these politicized alarmists unconditionally promote wind and solar energies. From a Swedish newspaper article in Nyhetsbrev (Bulletin) it states, “We also know from before that birds of prey die like flies(!), that bats find it difficult to hunt insects, that the need for balsa wood in the rotor blades leads to deforestation in the Amazon, that reindeer grazing is affected, that huge amounts of concrete and steel are used per produced TWh (with all that means for biodiversity) and that electromagnetic fields surrounding the lines connecting offshore wind power can hypnotize crabs “.
The link above should translate the Swedish article into English.
Further, the CO2 Coalition reports, “the blades are killing billions of insects at a time when total global insect mass—an essential part of nature’s food chain—is in alarming decline.
The climate campaigner’s handbook maintains that they need to endorse all manner of energy production which they exclusively deem as preferred over fossil fuels – whether they produce less carbon dioxide and generate more disaster and damage is certainly questionable, if not certain. The eco-politicians and advocate scientists use misleading language and euphemisms to make their case – deceit and dishonesty are merely the means to an end, thus, they consider the deception to be virtuous. Quite some time back I wrote an article on the deaths of millions of eagles, hawks, and other birds and bats in the state of California. Not even the progressives at the National Audubon Society appeared perturbed - all of these environmental groups simply enlarge their “Donate” button.
The one energy they cannot promote is nuclear energy simply because, en masse, it totally eliminates their carbon dioxide emissions scandal, and their conduit for power and control is subsequently forfeited.
